Military Cruise Disney - The Disney Company has offered generous discounts to members of the United States military for most of this century. It's easy to find details and prices for the Disney Parks Armed Forces Salute Hall and ticket discounts. You can do a quick search on the Internet and find page after page of information.

But the details of Disney Cruise Line's military discounts have always been more elusive. You can spend hours on the DCL site linking different dates and destinations and still nothing! This led most travelers to believe that there were no discounts to be found.

Military Cruise Disney

Offer significant military discounts. According to official Disney details, the discount is limited to 50 rooms per cruise. This does not necessarily mean that every cruise will have 50 rooms. This means that the maximum number of rooms will not exceed 50 per ship. From my experience, it seems that these discounts are offered at the last minute to fill vacancies on current cruises. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason for the discount offered and they are very difficult to predict.

How Disney's Jungle Cruise Film Adapted The Problematic Ride

Members of the military can now go to the Disney Cruise website, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on Special Offers under "Cruises and Destinations," then click on "U.S. Army Special Rewards." (Or use this link!!)

You can now check out current military promotions being offered on upcoming Disney Cruises! This new page highlights available departure dates, destinations, booking windows (e.g. book between April 23 and April 30) and eligibility restrictions. Clicking on a specific cruise deal also details the ship, cabin category, and an estimate of the cruise fare for two passengers. And the best part, this page is regularly updated with new cruises. Finding military discounts on a Disney cruise just got a whole lot easier!!

These special offers are available to all active and retired members of the US Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, Army Reserve and DoD. The spouses of these members are eligible to use this discount.

Active and retired members of the military must present current identification. upon arrival at the Port. Activated members of the United States National Guard and Reserves must also show active duty orders. (Must be activated by January 1 of the previous year.) Spouses must present active dependent identification. (and orders if National Guard or Reserve is active).

An Overview Of Military Discounts Offered At Disney Destinations

One!! Exactly one! Regardless of who books the room, active duty member or spouse, this offer is limited to ONE (1) room per active or retired military family.

Well, that's a trickier question that requires a bit more research. You can offer a cruise at full price and then offer the same cruise again to compare prices. Keep in mind that cruise fares are lower the longer you book, and military fares seem to be advertised about two months in advance. The comparison would therefore be based solely on today's rates. This is not a true comparison based on early booking or any other special promotion. But the fee still offers a big discount and a great excuse for other last-minute getaways!

So what's the catch? For starters, those who want to use the Military Special need to be flexible. Proposed dates are usually within the next two months. (That said, passengers might want to make sure they have a valid passport on hand when they start looking for their cruise.) Second, while military isn't limited to staterooms, not all room types are are not guaranteed to be available for a particular cruise. Again, flexibility in choosing a discount on a particular room is essential. (Honestly, I'd rather have $800 for harbor excursions or a future cruise on an updated cabin anyway!)
